Bio of Victoria Clemans
Vicki went to the University of West Los
Angeles at night and worked during the day as a legal secretary, office
manager and law clerk, for Ted Cohen, “a lawyer’s
lawyer”. She learned from the best how to be an advocate for her
client.
Not born with the proverbial silver spoon in her mouth and raised in
the ghettos of Oakland, she knows what it’s like to work hard.
Although she has a sense of optimism and humor, she doesn’t take
her law license for granted. After all, her grandmother came through
Ellis Island as an Italian immigrant and Vicki believes that her drive
and passion come from her strong roots.
Vicki studied nursing as an undergraduate but later on switched to law.
She realizes now that the part of her that originally chose nursing
(caring for and about others problems), is utilized every day in her
law practice and that she is a natural when it comes to good lawyering.
Some of her accomplishments include:
American Jurisprudence Award in Torts, 1997-1998 University of West Los Angeles
Internship as a law clerk for Judge Anthony Mohr in Van Nuys as a law
and motion clerk. Hon. Anthony Mohr is now located at the Commonwealth.
On-going participation in Constitutional Rights Foundation-Mock Trials
as a scorer for middle school and high school kids, a way to give back
to the community.
Volunteer for LACBA (Los Angeles County Bar Association). Vicki was a
panelist for LACBA in 2005 and 2006. She spent many hours giving legal
aid to people with personal injuries- to see if they had a case or not,
landlord/tenant issues, criminal charges and even restraining orders
(both petitioner and respondent).
Vicki has done over 25 trials in her four years of practice and knows
her way around the courtroom, the rules of evidence and civil and
criminal procedure.
